Now this looks like a fuckin' fantastic compilation. I may just have to get my hands on this bad boy. I guess not much is going on right now. I am back to work now, which sucks. I hated just standing for 4 hours. I don't know what is wrong with me, but I must have some kind of muscle pull or something in my groin area. After like 2 or 3 hours of standing at work, I get this soreness in that area. It happened before and now it's happening again. I hate it. I think I might have to see the doc on this one. I think it has something to do with the way I stand or the shoes. I don't know.

This year is going to be filled with concerts:

Jimmy Eat World - Feb. 28th - The Metro - Chicago, IL
Death Cab for Cutie - April 17th - Aragon Ballroom - Chicago, IL
The Killers - April 30th - Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee, WI
Ray LaMontagne - April 21st - Riverside Theater - Milwaukee, WI
Ryan Adams - March 15th - War Memorial Theater - Nashville, TN

Plus there is a few more other shows thrown in there I am sure. I may go to the Bonnie Prince Billy show in Milwaukee on March 18th, but that is cutting it close to coming back from Nashville to see Ryan.

Birthday Weekend Summary

I have to say and I am going to be completely honest: Didn't really like this musical very much. I never saw the movie (should of I guess) and if it weren't for reading the plot of the play before hand, I would of had no idea what the heck was going on. One thing about Off-Broadway Musicals is, there is one set the whole time. No changing of the scenes or anything. They use props to basically change the scene.

I was lost. I had a hard time following along and it was hard to understand Mrs. Lovett, she had a british accent and the sound was just not very loud in the balcony. Obviously I was the only one that didn't really like it that much cause it was a standing ovation at the end. People clapped during the play too. They sing everything.

Spring Awakening was a GREAT musical. More my speed. I guess it didn't hurt that we had like 2nd row seats on Broadway in NYC. I really liked that musical and it's playing in Minneapolis this weekend. We may go. I am looking up tickets right now.

More to come....

Happy Birthday to me!! (Why it says Thursday, I don't know, but my B-day is today Jan. 23rd)

Yes, I am going to toot my own horn. I am very excited to be alive and well (well the best I can do) on my birthday. 32 years old. I believe I was born sometime in the afternoon. My mother was getting a little sad on me the other day when she took me to my doctor appointment. Yes, my mother took me to my appointment because I can't drive a car yet and she was the only one that could take me. I know nobody around this town and plus the appointment is about 45 minutes away.

I am just happy to be alive today. I am going to enjoy this day with a free sundae and a free car wash. Even though it's only going to be like 23 degrees today, fuck it. My car needs washing. So much salt on that bad boy. Actually both cars need washing pretty badly.

So, I am going to soak up this special day with 3 live recordings from 1977 by some really awesome bands: Grateful Dead (best year was 1977), Allman Brothers and Led Zepplin. The closets show I have to the day I was born was the Allman Brothers show (1/28/77). I was at that time in Rochester, MN at the greatest hospital in the country, Mayo Clinic. Presidents and famous people go to this hospital because it is rated the best in the country.

I was considered a miracle child and it took many hours to operate on me, spent over a month in the hospital. I was rushed to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, which was over an hour away from La Crosse. Doctor said that was the biggest birth surgery he's ever done and look at me now. I am happy, healthy and ALIVE.

So, I will go on with my sleep here and wake up to a sunny day I hope. Actually it's not suppose to be, it's suppose to snow a little bit and be cold. Mom said it was like 20 below when I was born (that's coming on Saturday). We are going to Madison to stay at the Concourse Hotel on the Capital Square. Got it on Priceline (nice plug) for $45 dollars. The room is going for $149 dollars on Saturday night. Bought tickets to see Sweeney Todd the musical at the Overture Hall and before that we are going out for dinner at one of Madison's best new restaurants called Dayton Street Grille. The chef was rated the best local chef in Madison. We've stayed at this hotel before. I got a Governor Jacuzzi Suite one time for our Anniversary. Boy did that set me back, but it was well worth it. It's right on the square, you can see the capital from your room. The winter time makes it gorgeous around there with the lights.

So....big day....big weekend as well.

Recovering

This thing has kept me entertained for like 2 weeks now. Life saver in the hospital. My god, what a depressing place to be. Especially when you have a semi-private room. You have to share it with other people. My first room mate was cool and liked to talk (plus he was closer to my age), but my second room mate was 98 years old. Yes there was some interesting stories, but it's just really hard to deal with all the situations he was going thru. I heard them all between that curtain. It's tough, plus the problem you are trying to deal with.

I worked hard to get better but yesterday I took a little blow to the gut, so to speak. I ate too much the night before and I was in a lot of pain. I threw up, which the doctor said wouldn't feel very good. He was 100% correct on that one. I felt horrible and I was in a lot of pain. Yesterday, I seriously felt like I was hungover, even though I didn't even drink a drop. Gross feeling, but today I am hungry again and I am afraid to eat something solid. I don't want to go thru that again. I made the mistake of eating a pot roast. Stupid Stupid Stupid Bryon.

Today I have a doctors appointment and my mom is taking me there. She is coming up from La Crosse to take me. I have to tell the doctor of my stupid mistake and I can't wait to hear it from him. I was doing so well with eating though. I had some meatballs the other day, but I suppose those digest easier than like a steak? I should of known better. I was eating fish and yes, basically softer foods. I just hope I didn't do any damage to my intestines. I am a little worried, but today I don't feel too bad. It's like I almost regressed back to coming out of the hospital. I was doing sooooo well.

I'll probably be out for another 2 weeks I am guessing after this set back. I need to watch my diet. The nurse said high fiber soft foods diet. I have to tell my work today when I can come back. I want to come back pretty much now because I am actually kinda bored at home. I never thought I would say that, but I have run out of things to do. Well I shouldn't say that because now I started classes and I have two online classes where I should be reading. I'll get to that.

Best album of 2008
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

Justin Vernon, is his real name, and he is from Eau Claire, WI. Wrote this album in his dad's cabin in the middle of winter. The vocals on this album are amazing. He has since followed up with an EP called "Blood Bank".
